BLOG: Blog v Wiki

The easiest way to compare a blog and a wiki is a wiki is more of a collaborative project where anyone has access to write, edit and update the content whereas a blog is more of a personal piece of work where only you as the publisher can alter the information. In today's networked world, it allows more and more people to be connected from anywhere around the world. You can practically find any information on the internet. One of the biggest source of information that majority is familiar with and have used is Wikipedia and as Noam Cohen's New York Times article The Rorschach Cheat Sheet on Wikipedia says, "the Wikipedia page is the equivalent of posting an answer sheet to next year's SAT." Just like wikis, blogs are able to be used as a collaborative project and maybe even achieve a goal. In Michael Wilson's New York Times article Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid, a Brooklyn community started a blog and it chronicled a specific house in the neighborhood that everyone had a concern about. The more people contributed and added to what they have witnessed, it brought about a meeting with the authorities whom finally investigated the house and cracked down on a drug operation.
