Social networking technologies have evolved to the point that it assists us personally or even in a corporate setting. As Langfitt said in his NPR article, "Social networking technology is absolutely the best thing to happen in recruiting." The biggest social networking platform for business related use is LinkedIn. Employers and potential candidates alike are able to search up any company or any specific characteristics of a candidate and it will pull up so many results all in one platform. You may even be able to find something on one platform that you can't find elsewhere. Social networking technologies benefit society because it is a great way for millions of people to connect with each other instantaneously from anywhere around the world. For example, when a crisis happens at a specific moment, anyone can go live and show the rest of the world what is going on in real time compared to back then when you would probably find out about what was happening a couple days later after it has happened already. When there is good, there is also bad and social networking definitely has its "dark side." Social networking "may be changing the very nature of kids' friendships" along with the capabilities of "cyber-bullying or texting sexually explicit messages" (Stout). Because of the capability to talk to one another instantaneously over text messaging without having to actually talk to someone is causing many younger generations to become antisocial and lack oral communication skills. In addition, it is also lowering their intellectual when they are typing short hand like "u" instead of "you" or "ik" instead of "I know" which will affect their written skills. All in all, I believe technology will constantly be evolving and the main goal is to make humans' lives easier but having technology do everything for us can and will be a big problem as it will lower our needs to have any knowledge of basic living skills.

I agree that technology would constantly be evolving and growing as time goes on. We use it for everything in our lives which makes things easier and less stressful. However, I also agree to your point that it won’t be good for us in the long run. If we become too dependent on technology and machines doing our jobs, what would be our purpose? As you stated, we are already losing our abilities to communicate properly due to everything being said through text message.
